The Friends of The March School raises money for the school by organising various events including the Christmas and Summer Fayres, cake sales and various other events such as fashion shows, bingo and quiz evenings.
Every parent and carer with a child in the school is a member of the Friends and we would like to encourage everyone to join in with at least one event, you never know, you may enjoy it!
Our meetings are once a month, held at school in the evening on a Wednesday and they last about an hour, we drink lots of tea and coffee and always have nice biscuits and a good laugh. The meetings are very informal and everyone is welcome to attend, we really are friendly! We need volunteers to help with anything from baking cakes to setting up the fayres to ordering raffle tickets. The Class Reps are always on hand to answer any questions, the list showing ‘who’s who’ is on the board as you enter the playground. The Class Reps also run the class group email which is proving invaluable in helping parents and carers keep up to date on class activities.
Over the years the Friends have raised money to buy various items and our largest single contribution to the school so far has been the ‘Ark’, the outdoor classroom which is used a great deal in the spring, summer and early autumn. We have also recently purchased new lunch time play equipment for the children to use at break times, we contributed to the fence and gate leading from the small playground to the back of Classes 2 and 3 and we also purchased the Forest Climber and slide, both of which are very popular at break time with all the children.
